Alex Hardacre's contribution to South Canterbury Rugby Supporters' Club was recognised at their annual meeting.
Serving his eighth year as chairman, Hardacre was awarded life membership.
Hardacre has been a member of the club since it came out of recess in 1998.
His dedication and forthright leadership was also acknowledged.
In presenting his annual report, Hardacre said the club had 35 members with a good attendance at club days and Heartland games.
He thanked all those members who helped prepare meals for the Heartland and Development teams after practice and at other functions.
Hardacre also offered special thanks to the Timaru South Cosmopolitan Club for sponsoring the Heartland `Player of the Day' award.
He also congratulated the union for a very well-run and received awards night.
Four members will attend this year's national conference in New Plymouth, before hosting next year's conference in Timaru.
The club also supplied a hardship grant available each year, on merit, for a rep player.
The supporters club has adopted a constitution and while club finances are in reasonable shape, the club needs to attract sponsorship and other funds, to promote rugby at all levels in South Canterbury.
New members also need to be attracted.
This year the club is hoping to follow the team over to the West Coast. Herald correspondent
