PRACHAR STEGERMAN from Canberra spent part of his Friday running a 5km leg between Timaru and Christchurch, all in the name of world peace.
The World Harmony Run is a global torch relay that spans about 100 countries and six continents, with runners covering more than 56,300 kilometres.The event was founded in 1987 by the late Sri Chinmoy, an athlete, philosopher, artist, musician and poet who believed sport to be a powerful instrument for promoting global harmony.
The run aims to promote international friendship and understanding and as a symbol of harmony runners carry a flaming torch.
The global run is not a fundraiser and doesn't highlight any particular political cause.
The aim is to "create goodwill among people of all nations".
New Zealand's leg of the run began at Cape Reinga on Monday, September 8 and finished yesterday in Christchurch.
