Waimate cyclist gears up for world champs
Waimate's Dylan Kennett will get to test himself against some of track cycling future superstars at the UCI World Junior Track Championships which start tomorrow in Invercargill.
Kennett will be action on day one with the team pursuit to be decided.
He will team up with Te Awamutu's Hayden McCormick, Liam Aitcheson of Alexandra and Canterbury's Hamish Schreurs.
Reigning world champions Australia go in as strong favourites after retaining two of their riders from last year who smashed the world record.
Kennett is the only survivor of the Kiwi team that secured the bronze but is confident the team can improve on last year's result. However, he admits it will be a huge ask to knock off the Australians.
