Roncalli College made the last four of the Gary Sowden girls' football tournament at Sir Basil Arthur Park yesterday after a penalty shootout.
Roncalli defeated Wakatipu High School 8-7 on penalties after the match was locked at 1-1 after normal time.
Leanna Ryan had put the home team into the lead before Wakatipu equalised with 10 minutes to play.
Roncalli goal keeper Morgan Stevenson proved the hero in the penalty shootout.
Both goalkeepers saved two penalties before Stevenson saved a sudden-death shot.
They fell short in the semifinal to Marlborough Girls' High School, 4-0. Marlborough will play Cashmere High in the final today, while Roncalli will face Middleton Grange in the third-fourth playoff.
Timaru Girls' High, Waimate High and Geraldine High will play in a round-robin format to decide ninth and 14th.
