Roncalli College and Waimate High School had frustrating finishes to their under-15 rugby tournament at Pleasant Point and Temuka, yesterday.
Roncalli bowed out with a 14-0 loss to St Peter's College in their final match.
Team manager Warren Todd said they used some younger players in the game, but the home team lacked the desire needed to win.
"Again, we didn't take our chances which has been the story of our tournament."
George Jacobs was the standout player in the game, while blindside flanker Matt Brownie showed the most improvement throughout the week.
Waimate had an even worse time of it.
Injury and illness reducing their ranks to just 12 fit players by the end of their 48-0 defeat to Taieri College.
Waimate coach Justin Thompson said he had to play all of his year-eight players, who performed admirably but were no match for the older players. Josh Wilson and Thomas Hill were his standout performers.
