The inaugural Dobson Dash is all good to go. Now, organisers are just hoping for some entrants for the race on September 15.
The idea is the brainchild of Helen Holyoak and a friend, who, after a particularly slow, snowless day at Mt Dobson skifield, felt the place needed to host its own event.
"We got talking over a cup of coffee about it. The idea just came to us, and someone must have got wind of it because it ended up in the local newsletter," she said.
"At that stage, I was faced with two options: either stop right there, or go for it. We decided to go for it."
Adopting a similar format to some of the other skifield multisport events, the start is at the top of the mountain and competitors will ski or snowboard to the ski area car park before getting on their bikes and cycling down the access road.
From the bottom of the road it's a run down the riverbed and the Kimbell Track to the finish line at the Kimbell Hotel.
"We've got no idea how many people will sign up for this, it was just something that happened," Ms Holyoak said.
"But the course is going to be a challenge.
"We've also got the local branch of St Johns involved. We've been lucky with the support."
