Roncalli College and Geraldine High School have maintained their A-grade status at the South Island Secondary Schools' tournament for 2013.
Both teams had the season-goal of remaining in the top grade of the competition.
Roncalli College finished 22nd after a gritty 31-27 win over Dunstan High School, where they over-turned a six-goal halftime deficit to earn victory.
They could not carry their momentum through to their match with St Kevin's College 36-23.
Geraldine finished 28th after a 44-28 defeat to Burnside High School and a 35-25 loss to Gore High.
In the B grade, Timaru Girls' High School finished 11th and Mackenzie College 12th
Both teams lost their opening fixture to Buller High School and Blue Mountain, respectively, before TGHS prevailed in their match against one another 46-27.
Opihi College finished 17th after two good wins on the final day.
They downed Garin College 30-26 and then Roxburgh Area School 26-20.
Waimate High School finished 32nd and last in the B grade after losses to Cromwell College 33-19 and Greymouth High School 31-22.
In the C grade, Mountainview High School finished fifth in the 16-team competition.
They beat John Paul II High School 36-26 and then East Otago High School 33-28.
