Returning rider Sam Gray proved far too strong, taking out the Timaru Cycling Club' s Phil Taylor Memorial and the Allan Loach Cup in Totara Valley.
In near-perfect conditions, 36 riders contested an exciting race but Gray was too classy.
The handicapper split the riders into seven bunches to battle it out over the testing two-lap course.
The front three bunches soon formed a formidable group, with Dave Hawkey, Pete Sutton, and Phil Clapham driving hard.
However, they could not stay away from the flying bunch of Gray, Sam Simpson, Denise Keenan, and Alistair MacMillian.
It was Gray who rode away, winning comfortably from Chris Stringer, Hawkey, Keenan and Adair Craik.
Less than 40 seconds back, the break bunch took fastest time over lone scratch man Andy van der Heyden.
Fabian Wybrow took the spoils over Glenn Gould and Cameron Alexander.
