Promising Timaru skier Tim Bowman is out of contention for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Bowman fell and badly damaged knee ligaments while competing in the Australian New Zealand Cup ski-cross race at Mt Hotham in Australia in August.
He is recovering in Timaru after knee surgery and expects to make a full recovery but not in time to qualify for the Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
"Any chance of competing in the 2014 winter Olympics are gone but my goal is to return to competitive skiing and compete in the world juniors and aim for ski-cross in the 2018 Winter Olympics."
