Craighead Diocesan School hockey player Cass Reid has been named in the New Zealand Black Sticks women's hockey squad for a six-test series against India next month.

She is one of eight uncapped players in the 25-strong squad.

It has been a whirl-wind progression for the striker who was a late call-up to the New Zealand Under 18 squad just over a year ago.

Since then she has represented New Zealand at Under 21 level and has won a National Hockey League (NHL) title with the senior Canterbury team in 2012.
