Timaru's new professional swimming coach for CBay should be announced shortly.
The Timaru District Council has confirmed it has a successful applicant after interviewing for the position but is awaiting a signed contract before announcing who it is.
The Herald understands the coach has been involved with New Zealand teams but not in a lead role.
The council had originally appointed Christchurch-based Paralympic coach Roly Crichton to the position but he failed to front on his first day of work and sent a one-line email to the council of his change of mind. Crichton has since apologised.
