South Canterbury rugby referee Bevan Newlands has been selected to officiate as an assistant referee at the New Zealand Sevens in Queenstown.
His good performances at the South Island Sevens in Timaru boosted his claims.
Newlands was also selected this year for the New Zealand Rugby Union Referees Academy programme.
