WINNER: Matt Ellis won a back-and-forth final over Josh Cameron in the South Canterbury Southern Junior Tennis Open at the ASB Tennis Centre, yesterday.

South Canterbury junior tennis players featured prominently at the South Canterbury Southern Junior Open at the ASB Tennis Centre yesterday.

In the final of the boys 10s final, South Canterbury teammates Matt Ellis and Josh Cameron renewed their rivalry.

Cameron had four match points in the tie-breaker before Ellis prevailed 4-2 3-5 9-7.

The pair combined to capture the doubles title.

Fellow South Cantabrians, Harrison Darling and Ben Deeley squared-off in the boys 12s final.

Darling won 6-3 6-0.

The pair combined to win the doubles.

Ben's older brother, Jack Deeley defeated Southland's Joshua McDermott in the boys 14s final 6-1 6-1.

Jack Deeley also won the doubles with Nick Jenkins. South Canterbury's Emily Gilchrist was third in the girls 12s while newcomer Ben Goldingham was a beaten finalist in the boys 8s.
