South Canterbury cricketers Glen Drake and Nathan McNicol made important contributions to help their Canterbury under-19 team win their national competition in Christchurch.
Temuka pace bowler McNicol bowled particularly well early in the tournament and took 4-15 against Central Districts to help Canterbury to a 27-run win in a two-day encounter.
Waimate captain Glen Drake made 42 against Wellington to help the home team chase down 201.
Canterbury won the tournament with three rounds to spare. Only Twenty20 fixtures remain.
