Timaru rowing coach Dan Kelly's quadruple scull has won silver for New Zealand at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Lithuania.
Mitchell Mackenzie-Mol, Benjamin Crosbie, Marty Davenport and Jack O'Leary were beaten by Germany, who led from start to finish. The German quad clocked a time of five minutes 57.87 seconds, more than two seconds faster than the Kiwis.
The New Zealanders, however, kept at bay crews from South Africa, the United States, Italy and China in an excellent effort.
All four Kiwi boats in Lithuania made A finals, with Kelly's crew the only one to make the podium amongst the tough competition.
