Timaru's annual street criterium attracted smaller fields than normal yesterday, but those who participated certainly didn't lack determination to be first across the line in their respective graded races.

Thirty seniors and 12 juniors lined up for the Boxing Day event, which was held around the PrimePort circuit.

The winner of the glamour event, the Elite A grade, and the Bill Ryan Memorial Trophy, was Waimate cyclist Andy van der Hayden, from Glen Gould (Waimate), Jake Marriott (Christchurch), Craig Domigon (Timaru); and Josh Connor (Timaru).
