Senior cricket one-day final now in March

South Canterbury Cricket has moved the date of the senior one-day competition final between Celtic and Timaru from February 9 to March 9.

Acting chief executive Mark Medlicott said the decision was made because many of the South Canterbury representative players would be forced to play a club final in between four provincial fixtures, while Celtic also have to play the club twenty20 final on February 6 against Waimate.

Medlicott said several players had also said they would be at the Wellington Sevens on February 9.

The date change means the one-day final at Aorangi Oval was likely to be played on the same pitch that will be used for the Canterbury Wizards versus Otago Volts domestic 50-over match on March 2,
