Geraldine's Steve Jones won the South Canterbury singles title and Allan Hawkey Cup, defeating West End's Laurie Shanks in the final by 21-13.
Jones went to a 7-2 lead after five ends. Both players then played consistent bowls and after 12 ends Jones led 10-9.
Shanks then scored two on the next two ends and went to a 13-10 lead.
Jones then showed his class, and with superb draw bowls picked up three shots followed by fours on the next two ends to take the title 21-13.
In the bye round of post section, Kia Toa's Ron Bell was a surprise winner over Barry Andrews, but he lost his semifinal to Shanks. The other semifinal between West End's Ken Feathers and Jones was a close contest.
Feathers started the better and went out to a four shot lead.
Jones then fought back, and after 25 ends the score was 20-18 to Jones.
Feathers fought back, scoring one shot on the next two ends to level at 20-all in the race to 21 shots. Feathers had the game won before Jones, with his last bowl, drew a toucher to win 21-20.
