Tough draw for South Canterbury
The South Canterbury rugby team will face a season which has the potential to get tougher as the Heartland Championship continues, according to the 2014 draw released yesterday.
The defending Lochore Cup champions for fifth to eighth will open their campaign at home against Wanganui on August 23.
However, Chester Scott's side face what looks like a tough draw late in the eight-round competition with the prospect of facing North Otago at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium in week six and a trip to the Ashburton Showgrounds to take on defending Meads Cup champions Mid Canterbury in the final week of the round-robin.
South Canterbury will not play Thames Valley, King Country or East Coast during the round-robin.
South Canterbury coach Scott was unavailable for comment.
