Keen battle fought over Arnst Trophy

The South Canterbury Women's Lawn Bowling team beat Mid-Canterbury in the annual Arnst Trophy match played in Ashburton on Friday.
In ideal conditions on the MSA greens, South Canterbury women had 10 wins and one draw and Mid-Canterbury had 5 wins and one draw. Each team played two games in pairs and fours.
Results. Pairs: Carol Clark and Rosina Beker lost 12-20 won 23-15
M Munro and Doreen King lost 11-19 and lost 9-22; Mata Frankum and June Christmas won 21-17 and lost 14-35; Cathy Richards and Mary Lemon won 25-15 and lost 16-17.
Fours: Stella Clouston, Rosalie Holland, Joan Lawn and Trish Cocks won 15-14 and drew 22-22.
Annette Pooke, Dawn Goodger, Joanne Giles and Noeline Milne won 23-10 and 17-12; Sharon Fowler, Jenny Young, Lorraine Johnston and Janice Styles won 20-12 and 16-11; Bev Robson. Pat Parker, Shirley Whyte and Joy Cox won 15-12 and 28-10.

Ashbury Women's Bowling Club came out on top to win the annual Robinson Trophy 7's when points were compiled after the 11 rounds of bowls was played.
There were 11 South Canterbury clubs participating in this event, however, after strong competition from the Timaru Town and Country Club and Waimate, Ashbury prevailed.
Ashbury team players were Bev Robson, Trish Cocks and Elaine Williams, Shona Farmer, Neisha Hogg , Brenda Austin, Fay Smail,
Result: 1st Ashbury 110pts, 2nd TTCC 109 pts, and 3rd Waimate.
