01:30pm 13 Feb 2012 On my first day in Boston I ended up at a party in South Boston. I was talking to someone who was originally from Los Angeles and our discussion turned to the recently completed NBA Finals , where the Los Angeles Lakers had defeated the Boston Celtics.

West Coast. More laidback friendly surfie vibe than the East Coast where too many people were too busy trying to become billionaires. Maybe because of this a lot of them came across as rude. Anglenos were more likely to see leisure as a serious pursuit. New York took "culture" very seriously (much like Wellingtonians) rather than seeing it as part of a leisure culture.
Don't know much about the NBA but did enjoy going to an Angels baseball game. Friendly fans.
Celtics definitely...the defensive master grinder Bill Russell; then later Larry Bird, Robert Parrish and McHale battling Magic, Kareem, Dr J and co.

Auckland V Wellington? I always thought the rivalry was Auckland versus Christchurch what with them being the main cities of the North and South Islands and the 2 strongest sporting regions.
