Is life really better across the ditch? We asked our readers to share their experiences. Janine Williamson is loving life in Queensland.

I have been living in Queensland for nearly three years and it's been a life changing experience, for the better.

I have worked hard and have two properties, a fantastic partner and have made some great friends.

I am involved in community activities through Rotary International and I truly love the weather and lifestyle.

I hear through various sources that residency is difficult to get, however, I have applied, on my own merits, not my partner's, and have been granted permanent residency.

I am nothing special, simply a project manager with significant ties to Australia in both property and work capacities.

I love New Zealand, but there is no room for progress there for me and my children.

I miss my friends and family, but with technology and very cheap air fares I see them probably more now than I did when I was living in New Zealand.

What wasn't understood when I loved here was just how difficult it is to get good service and accountability. Also how negatively New Zealanders are thought of here. Such a shame, we work hard alongside anyone and everyone.
