Need some help finding a suitable place to stay in Hawaii? If you have a travel question, email us at travel@stuff.co.nz.

Q. Hi, we are looking for a condo/house to rent on Maui for 4 adults and a 2-year-old for around 8 days plus in August. We would ideally like a place close to a safe beach and close to a town for supplies, etc.

The house would need 2 bedrooms and if one of them could fit a child's bed or 3 bedrooms and nice outdoor area to entertain. We will be hiring a car to get around so any clues on that as well would help. Thanks, Rozzie.

A. Based on your requirements I would suggest that the best area for you to stay would be Ka'anapali Beach.

There are numerous resorts located on Ka'anapali Beach, which is a lovely stretch of white sand with safe swimming (although the surf does pick up in winter months).

You are also close to Lahaina town, just a 10 minute drive away, which is a cute little town with some restaurants, arts & craft style shops and some grocery stores for supplies.

Since you have a car you'll also be able to get out and about and explore some other lovely family friendly beaches such as Baldwin Beach and Napili Beach.

Also in the Ka'anapali area is the cute Whalers Village with dining options so you don't have to go far afield for an evening out.

There are a selection of resorts that in this area that have 2 bedroom apartments, they range from 3 star to 5 star so it will depend on your requirements as to what would suit best, your local House of Travel will be happy to help.
