Q. W e are a family of five looking to travel to Thailand late December/early January for about 10 days.
Our children are aged 18, 16 and 12. Please could you give me some guidance as to the best parts to visit and maybe some suggestions on what we can do.
We like a bit of adventure along with some relaxation.
A. Thailand is a diverse country with each area slightly different to the next.
In its mountainous north are the cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Both offer a host of opportunities such as trekking, rafting, elephant riding and even home-stays with hill tribes.
Phuket and Koh Samui will make your dreams of that perfect tropical beach holiday come true. You'll find warm seas, tropical weather and endless white sand coastlines.
In Phuket, day trips will satisfy your adventure request: Kayak through the caves and hidden lagoons of the rocky isles that make up spectacular Phang Nga Bay on a Hongs by Starlight tour; take a bicycle tour in the northeast, an area known for its traditional villages; or add on an Elephant Hills stay, Thailand's first luxury tented jungle camp set in Khao Sok National Park.
