Q. I see there are hundreds of different tours for Pearl Harbour. Do you have any idea which one is the best one if you want to get a taste of everything in a day?

A.There certainly are many options for Pearl Harbour Day Tours. Choosing the one that suits you best really does depend on your interests and how much time you have.

If you just want a quick overview then the shorter tours will suffice, they generally include the Pearl Harbour Visitor Centre and the USS Arizona Memorial, the memorial that stands above the sunken vessel, and the Punchbowl Cemetery.

The Cemetery is back in Honolulu and is the resting place for over 50,000 veterans and their families, including those who lost their lives in the Pearl Harbour attack.

The longer tours spend more time at Pearl Harbour and in addition to the above they generally include the USS Bowfin Submarine, USS Missouri Battleship & the Pacific Aviation Museum.

There are also options that combine the shorter Pearl Harbour tour with other parts of the island - North Shore for example or a Honolulu city tour - which if you are short on time can be a nice way to see more of Oahu than just Waikiki.

I think the level of your interest in history is probably a good basis for deciding what tour is best.

And as a little tip, there is an audio guide for the USS Arizona Memorial, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, which is definitely worth the US$7.50 (NZ$8.64).
