Not sure where to start with the wealth of Cruising information around? If you have a travel question, email us at travel@stuff.co.nz.

Q. Now widowed, I mostly travel alone. I would love to do a cruise of some sort, not too long (or too expensive).

I am 77 but fit and active. I am available to travel any time of the year but I would not want to travel anywhere too cold in their winter. I would be delighted if you could give me some suggestions.

A. A popular option for many Kiwis is a cruise to the Pacific Islands sailing roundtrip from Auckland. With departures in May and June, you'd be hitting the warmth of the Pacific Islands on a nine or 10-night itinerary.

Another option available closer to home are selected cruises from Brisbane or Sydney, sailing the Queensland coast or to the Pacific Islands, ranging from 7 to 10 nights.

Shorter and longer itineraries are available based on your time and budget.

If you're looking to travel further afield, there are myriad cruise options, from the very popular ocean cruises in the Mediterranean or river cruises along the waterways of Europe, to Hawaii, Alaska and Asia.

The amount of information can be confusing to the first-time cruiser but you can get in touch with your local House of Travel holiday specialist to find out more about the best cruise holiday for you.
