A Swedish pilot has gained a massive internet following after posting glamorous selfies from the flight deck and on her world travels.

Maria Pettersson became a commercial pilot in 2011 and now flies for budget airline Ryanair, sharing photos along the way.

The 32-year-old pilot from Gothenburg in Sweden has more than 235,000 followers on Instagram where she takes photos of her work and yoga hobby.

"When I decided I wanted to become a pilot I worked hard to save up for flight training," Pettersson wrote on her website, where she shares information and advice about becoming a pilot.

"Hard work paid off became reality and I am very happy to be where I am today flying 737NG around Europe."

But it's not just her work photos that are garnering attention, Pettersson also shares photos of her practicing yoga in exotic places.

She recently told the Mail Online she wanted to share her story, which is about "females in a male-dominated environment".

"After posting a few aviation related photos I realised how much bigger the world of aviation really is," she said.
