British Airways shares travel deal by rival airline, Virgin Atlantic, to millions of fans
British Airways' social media team has mistakenly shared a rival airline's cheap deal on flights.
In an embarrassing faux-pas, the UK-based company directed its 2.5 million Facebook followers to a Virgin Atlantic advertisement on flights to London.
However, after hundreds of people quickly pointed out the mistake, BA decided to have a bit of fun and amended the post to say: Finally we agree on something except for how to get there.
To add insult to injury, Virgin Atlantic (followed by 500,000 people) quickly responded with its gratitude:
'We were quite surprised to see that British Airways shared our post, however, on this occasion, we do agree with them that Virgin Atlantic is the only way to fly," a spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic told the Mail Online.
"As the individual must have had a bad day, we'd be happy to offer them a free flight to make up for it!"
Earlier this year, British Airways' social media team teased Piers Morgan after he suggested he was more famous than Brad Pitt.
"So Brad Pitt just got on my @British_Airways plane to London. He's in seat 6F, I'm in 1A. This settles my celebrity status once and for all," the British TV presenter tweeted in June.
Thankfully, Anthony from the BA social media team was ready and waiting to deliver this masterful burn.
@piersmorgan Ooops, seems like we made a mistake there, Piers! Any chance you could swap with him? ^Anthony— British Airways (@British_Airways) June 21, 2016
