One of the great names of world shipping, Cunard's Queen Elizabeth, docked at Shed 10 in Auckland early this morning.

She had come in from Tonga and Tauranga with over 2000 passengers as part of a world tour.

The $700 million 90,901 gross ton ship was launched in 2010.

She is the third Cunarder with the name Elizabeth.

From 2016 she will be one of two ships called Queen Elizabeth as the Royal Navy brings its aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth into service.

The next Cunard liner into Auckland will be Queen Victoria, 90,000 gross tons, On March 13.

Cunard is now owned by the Florida company Carnival Corporation.
