Stingray photobombs couple's proposal
When Chris Hammer decided to propose to his girlfriend, Taylor Mckay, he thought Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto, Canada would be the perfect place.
Little did he know, an attention-hungry stingray was plotting to upstage his romantic gesture.
The Canadian couple had been enjoying the "Ray Bay" show at the aquarium when they were chosen to take part in an activity.
Mckay wrote in a post on Reddit: "The host asked for 2 volunteers to play a game and they picked us to go up. The game is for him to try describing a stingray and me try to guess what type…
"The hosts asks me for my answer and I blurt out the name of the only stingray from the show I can remember which is a Roughtail stingray. Host lady says I can turn around and see for myself and tadaaaa."
It turned out the game was all part of a ploy by Hammer, who had arranged for a diver to hold up a sign saying: "Will you marry me?"
But the sign was quickly obscured by a stingray, who ended up making it into all of the couple's proposal photos - and even invited a couple of his mates along to join in on the last picture.
Mckay said she spent the next 10 minutes "crying and laughing at the same time".
She told the Daily Mail: "It was completely unexpected - I feel very blessed to have the proposal captured in such a candid way.
"It wasn't until we got home and saw the pictures that I realised the stingray had made his way into them - I thought it was really funny."
