Chemical burns led to arrest

A man with serious chemical burns to his lower legs led police to an arrest in Hamilton East yesterday.

The 48-year-old man with burns was attended to by fire and ambulance staff in Boundary Rd, Claudelands about 2.40pm.

The burns were suspected to be from isopropyl alcohol, fire northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said.

The man said he had come from a Memorial Drive property where police later discovered a small cannabis oil manufacturing process was under way.

Police arrested a 46-year-old man who will appear in court on various charges.
