A scene examination is underway as police work to establish if the sudden death of a man who's body was found inside a Thames home this morning is suspicious or not.
Neighbouring residents found the man unconscious at the Queen St address shortly after 8am, eastern Waikato area manager of investigations, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley, said.
An ambulance was called but he died at the scene, he said.
''As a result police are conducting a forensic examination of the scene to determine if there is anything suspicious in relation to the death while awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.''
Pitkethley said at this point the 36-year-old's death is being treated as an unexplained sudden death and will continue to be treated as such until evidence suggests otherwise.
Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Thames Police on 07 858 6200.
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
