A two-year-old missing from her south Waikato home has been found unharmed.
Police had been asking for the public's help to find Alysha, who went missing shortly before midday from a home in the settlement of Putaruru off State Highway 1, north-west of Rotorua, police said.
The little girl wandered off from the property where she lives at approximately 11.30am and a major search effort was initiated.
Putaruru residents were asked to check their properties and ask their children if they had seen or spoken to the toddler recently.
Alysha was found "safe and well in a nearby property" after neighbours went to investigate noises.
They immediately alerted police.
Police later said they were 'overwhelmed' by the community's response to news the girl was missing.
''The police station was besieged with offers of assistance from members of the public through to the volunteer fire service.''
