The installation of a bridge at Waikato Hospital will close State Highway 1 next week.
The 38-metre bridge, to be installed on Tuesday night, will span Pembroke St and link the main hospital with the Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service building, which is under construction.
Motorists are being urged to avoid SH1, near the intersection of SH3, for about an hour from 7pm as the bridge is hauled from a Hawkins Construction yard off Gallagher Dr.
It will be taken along Kahikatea Dr (SH1) and around the Braemar Hospital intersection with Ohaupo Rd (SH3) and up Pembroke St.
Emergency services will still have access to the hospital, but there will be restricted public access via Pembroke St from 4pm. Hospital visitors should use Selwyn St.
