A Hamilton strip club ordered to pay a former doorman $15,670 last month by the Employment Relations Authority after he was unjustifiably dismissed has been told to pay more than $4000 towards his legal costs.

Former Hush Hush doorman Ben Fatupaito was awarded $10,170 in lost pay after the ERA found he was unjustifiably dismissed. The club owner, HHGC Ltd, was also ordered to pay him $5500 "distress compensation".

In a costs determination Authority member Rachel Larmer has now also  ordered HHGC to pay Mr Fatupaito $4000 towards his legal costs, and reimburse him the $71.56 cost of filing his claim with the Authority.

The company has until the end of this month to pay the costs awarded.
