Taupo Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an elderly cyclist died after a collision with a car yesterday afternoon.
He suffered severe head and leg injuries during the incident at 4.20pm and later died in Taupo Hospital.
Both the cyclist and the Nissan car involved were heading east on Tamamutu St at the time and police said early indications were that the cyclist made a right turn into the path of the vehicle.
The elderly man lived in Taupo.
The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan was not injured.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of the crash and police would lie to speak with anyone who saw the crash.
