Mortar bomb found in city
A mortar shell found under a Hamilton house has been safely removed by a bomb disposal team.
Hamilton police senior sergeant Andrew O’Reilly said the three inch mortal shell was found to be inert and there was no risk of it exploding.
It was safely removed from the Willoughby St house by an army bomb disposal unit from Auckland, shortly before 2:30pm.
All cordons have been lifted and those who were evacuated allowed back into their homes.
Would a pedestrian and cycleway bridge connecting the Waikato River's east and west banks make Hamilton more appealing?Related story: The Tronpier: Bridge of the Future?
