Attempted robbery, scuffle ensues

Two attempted robbers that got into a struggle with a Hamilton resident intent on protecting his property remain on the loose and police need help to track the culprits.

Hamilton Police are seeking witnesses to the incident that occurred around 2.30pm yesterday.

The victim was at his home address on Halberg Cres, Chartwell, when he heard a disturbance in the garage. He went to investigate and was confronted by two men - a struggle ensued.

The brief altercation outside the garage ended when the offenders ran towards the alleyway that links Halberg Cres and Tramway Rd.

Both offenders are described as male Maori, aged between 20 and 30 years of age.

One offender is approximately five feet and three inches tall, of muscular build with small dreadlocks.

He was wearing a white singlet and army boots.

The other is six feet tall with shoulder length hair and was wearing a black t-shirt and black track pants.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen these males in the area at the time.
