Hamilton man claims lotto prize
An impulsive buy on a weekend picnic trip has netted a Hamilton man $1 million.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, won the Lotto first division on January 16 after buying a ticket on a whim at Raglan Pharmacy.
Despite the ticket being drawn more than a week ago, he only realised he had won this week when buying a Big Wednesday ticket.
‘‘I asked the young guy to check my Lotto tickets and realised something was up by the look on his face and the Lotto machine shutting down.
‘‘I said to him, ‘I hope it’s more than $10,000’. He replied, ’it’s got a lot more zeros than that!’’’
The man plans to share winnings with his family.
