An oil spill and a two minor crashes have kept emergency services busy around the Waikato this morning.

Motorists are being urged to drive with care following an oil spill stretching over two kilometres of road near Tairua.

Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the fire service was advised of the oil spill just after 8am.

"The oil or diesel spills stretches over two kilometres of road from Opoutere School north," he said.

Four appliances remain at the scene assisting police with traffic control as they await a grit truck from NZTA.

There have been no reports of any accidents related to the oil spill.

Meanwhile drivers across the Waikato are being asked to consider road conditions following the first rain in weeks.

Emergency services attended a two car crash on Ngaruawahia Road just after 8.15 this morning.

Mr Phillips said one car ended up on it's roof.  Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

And the sole occupant of a car which rolled on Horsham Downs Rd about 8am also escaped injury.

Waikato police are requesting motorists lower their speeds and drive to the conditions.
