Fire investigators are back at a Taupiri home after it was destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning.
Fire fighters from Huntly and Ngaruawahia were called to the Te Putu St address just before 2am.
Huntly fire chief Craig Bush said the house was well ablaze when fire fighters arrived.
"It was well involved by the time we got there but it only took about 10 minutes to bring under control," he said.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire and Mr Bush said there was no indication that the fire was suspicious.
Neighbour Noel Fletcher said he had a grandstand view of the fire from his house across the road.
"It sure is an ugly mess this morning," he said. "I'm just please the guy who lives there was out - he's such a nice man and I'm just pleased he is ok."
Mr Bush said half the house had been completely gutted by fire. He is now working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire.
