Person trapped, cut from car

One person has been seriously injured in a car versus truck crash in northern Waikato.

The accident happened on State Highway 2, Mangatawhiri shortly before 7am.

Fire Service northern communications shift manager Colin Underdown said the person was trapped in the car and had to be cut free.

The road has been closed and diversions are still in place, a police spokeswoman said.

A landing zone has also been set up for a rescue helicopter and at least one person is being flown to hospital.
