The dog days still aren't over for Jimbo the American staffordshire terrier, with the South Waikato District Council voting to fight yet another legal attempt to halt his execution.

Jimbo's run through the courts has already cost the council, and therefore ratepayers, near $90,000 and with further legal costs and sustenance costs of keeping the dog impounded, it's set to rise.

The dog's owner Carolyn King is appealing the court decision for the third time, after council refused to let her have the animal's temperament independently assessed.
