Driver trapped after crash at notorious black spot

A driver crashed near a notorious Waikato black spot this afternoon and was trapped inside the wreckage.

Emergency services went to the scene just south of Tirau, near the intersection of State Highway 1 and 5, at 2.50pm.

Fire service communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the car had crashed into a ditch and one person was trapped.

The Tokoroa Volunteer Fire Brigade freed the person who suffered moderate injuries.
