Police are trying to establish the cause of a crash in which a motorcyclist died after failing to negotiate a moderate bend in the road in the Bay of Plenty.
The crash occurred on the Tauranga-bound bypass of State Highway 2, opposite the Domain Road roundabout in Papamoa, shortly after 1pm.
The rider of the Honda motorbike failed to negotiate a moderate bend in the road, struck the kerb and crashed into the bank, police said.
No other vehicles were involved.
The section of the road was now closed, but traffic was being diverted and there were no disruptions reported.
