The benefits for five Franklin women of stripping down to under-garments in the middle of winter are about to be revealed in Onewhero.
The cast of Onewhero Society of Performing Arts' Babooshka have been braving the cold and rainy nights to rehearse the play, which opens tomorrow.
Babooshka stars Tahlia Jones, Jess Lorimer, Donna Williams, Melissa Kershaw and Tessa Ritchie.
Written by Kiki Kendrick and Julie Balloo, it was the hit of the Edinburgh Festival in 2006.
OSPA's production is the North Island premiere of this unexpected, frank and witty play that sees the characters' stories revealed layer by layer, just like the Russian doll for which it is named.
Long-time OSPA member and supporter Leonard Irving has been working away behind the scenes putting the finishing touches to the simple but effective set, and respected actor Kelly Manning has come on board to fine-tune and help put the final polish on the play.
Tickets are on sale at River Traders, Tuakau; Onewhero Garage and Pure Indulgence, Pukekohe for $18 ($15 for seniors and students).
The season runs on July 11, 12, 16, 17, 18 and 19 at the OSPA Theatre, Hall Rd, Onewhero.
All performances start at 8pm.
