Police have arrested a Pukekohe man and charged him with the attempted armed robbery of the King St Superette in Pukekohe last week.
Detective Shane Drury said the man was picked up at his Pukekohe East address after warrants were issued on Saturday. He said the arrest was made after he was identified by witnesses.
It is alleged that the offender entered the dairy on July 2 land demanded cash and cigarettes from the female shop assistant.
He was armed with a large knife but left empty-handed after the victim refused to give him want he wanted.
A 26-year-old man appeared in the Pukekohe District Court on Monday facing a charge of assault with intent to rob.
He has been remanded in custody.
