Next year's Hamilton Gardens Summer Festival will include film screenings for the first time.

Festival manager Alana MacKay said organisers were confident the films would be a popular attraction. They were designed to expand the festival's appeal.

"Four films will be shown as part of this new innovation, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which should be especially popular," MacKay said.

Other festival attractions include performances by British jazz musician Georgie Fame and a "Brat Pack-themed" show by singer Ray Woolf and Rodger Fox.

Returning to the festival are theatre company Those Indian Guys with their new play Cornershop Confessions.

Their show D'Arranged Marriage sold out at this year's festival.

The full 2008 programme will be available early next month, with tickets going on sale December 7.

The 10-day festival begins on February 15. Aaron Leaman
