Album Reviews
Futuristic New Orleans funk group Galactic has teamed up with some of America's finest hip hop artists for its seventh latest album. From The Corner To The Block features Jurassic 5's Chali 2na, Digable Planets' Ladybug Mecca and Blackalicious' Gift of Gab.
These guest artists were given the job of linking their lyrics with the same concept: corners.
A tribute to Galactic's hometown, the result is a mixture of rap, funk and instrumentally funk-laden tunes.
MC Lyrics Born in What You Need and Chali 2na in Think Back make sure they're no-holds-barred tunes.
It's purely musical on Fanfare, Tuff Love and Bounce Baby, which features DJ Z-Trip, while Lateef the Vursatyl and Ohmega Watts croon their way through the catchy Find My Home.
The band confirm the artists are chosen from a mixture of bands they have toured with and a "wish list" of MCs they have worked with over the years. Funk lovers will have to check it out.
Rating: 3.5/5
