Business excellence sponsors selected
Sponsors have been selected for this year's celebration of Waikato business success, the Business Excellence Awards in November.
Sponsors were drawn from a hat by Hamilton mayor Julie Hardaker at a Waikato Chamber of Commerce function today.
City law firm Tompkins Wake will sponsor the award for a business with 50-plus full time equivalent staff; Wintec the five staff and under category; Wel Networks the 15-49 staff award and Deloitte, the 6 to 14 staff category.
The major sponsor is Westpac Bank and the Waikato School of Management sponsors the business leader of the year award.
Mystery Creek Events Centre will sponsor a new award category which will recognise excellence in a not-for-profit business.
Westpac's area manager of business banking for the Waikato Grant Robson said there had been a surge of interest around the country in business recognition awards with Waikato and Taranaki's events attracting particularly strong interest and support.
Chamber chief executive Sandra Perry urged Waikato businesses to enter this year's awards, to be held at Claudelands Events Centre on November 9.
"This region does not celebrate its success as much as it should. There are many excellent businesses in the Waikato that don't get the recognition they deserve."
